30 hour Classroom & 6 hour BTW  $400

Selecting this package enrolls your son or daughter in a State of Iowa certified Drivers Education class. This package consists of a 30 hours of instruction in the classroom and a minimum of 6 hours of behind the wheel training in the car.

Learning materials are provided. Some assignments will require writing on paper or to be typed on a computer. Each student should bring a pencil or pen to write and a notebook for additional note-taking. A folder will be provided with information for parents and students as well as syllabus, assignments, class schedule and class expectations.

Driver Education classes are scheduled based on class size.

Class size is capped at 30 students. So make sure you register to guarantee a seat in our class.

  • All classes are Iowa DOT certified and include 30 hours of classroom instruction with four hours of instruction covering drug and alcohol abuse relating to driving.
  • There will be a minimum of six hours of driving instruction in our car in various driving conditions, including residential, highway, parking, interstate, and vehicle operation.
  • Private Classes can be scheduled to meet the needs of schedules that may not fit our regular schedule with Indian Hills. Contact us today about this offer.

Parents: The Drivers Education class meets for a limited-time and we need your cooperation in having the best availability to your student for the classroom time, but more importantly the drive lessons. Every student must complete a minimum of 6 hours, so if we have 20 students, we need to make a schedule for 120 hours of drive lessons inside the time frame of the class. We want to be accommodating, but we also feel it is necessary to be fair to our instructors. They work long hours instructing your son or daughter. If a student misses a scheduled drive time and we have to re-schedule a drive, we will charge a $50.00 no show fee. If you let us know ahead of time, then we can work around things, but we need at least 48 hours once a drive schedule is set.

Note: Students should have had at least 10 hours of drive time with a parent or other licensed adult prior to taking Drivers Education. The State of Iowa requires all drivers with a permit have a minimum of 10 hours of adult instruction prior to taking class. It is very hard to pass the Drivers Ed class in-car portion with limited hours of practice behind-the-wheel. We expect solid driving proficiency in order to pass the driving portion. We strive for all our students to understand why it is necessary to be a safe and responsible driver.

If we deem that they are not proficient by Iowa DOT Standards, we will ask that the parent practice with them before re-taking the final drive assessment or we offer drive lessons for $75 per hour. A second final drive is available for purchase for $75. It is important to understand that the student must be competent to drive in order to pass the final drive assessment.
